Obituary for Hugh M. Sampson, Jr.

Hugh Mahlon Sampson Jr. 95, was surrounded by his family as he peacefully entered his heavenly home on January 29th, 2025. He was born on December 1st, 1929 in Mango, Florida. Hugh attended Brandon High School Class of 1948. He served in his church all of his adult life, as a Deacon and youth group Leader and sang in the choir well into his 90’s. He earned his reward hearing “well done, good and faithful servant.” Hugh is predeceased by his parents, Hugh Sr. and Annie Vida Sampson, his brothers Bryan, Ralph and sister Louise. He is survived by Virginia, his best friend, love of his life and wife of 72 years. They married in 1952 and devoted their life to raising their family and serving the Lord. Along side his wife he raised and contributed to the lives of children they didn’t have to, loved on people continuously and remained generous to others. Hugh is survived by his children David Sampson, Julie & Neal Poe, Ray & Beth Kelp, grandchildren Josie and Branden along with over 60 nieces and nephews including greats, great-greats and great-great-greats. Hugh served in the Army, he was a dairy farmer and served on the board of the Independent Dairy Farmers Association in the agricultural industry. Hugh and Virginia faithfully attended First Baptist Church of Brandon, Bell Shoals Baptist and First Baptist of Blairsville. They enjoyed their retirement splitting time between Valrico Florida and the mountains of Blairsville Georgia. Services will be at a later date and remembrances may be made to The Gideons Foundation in his name. Hugh’s favorite bible verses include Psalm 139: 23-24 and Psalm 19:14. His greatest wish is for those he knows and loves to know the Lord.

Ana Lucia Morini, age 78, of Riverview Florida passed away on Tuesday, April 22, 2025. Lucia was born in Itagui, Medellin, Colombia on September 23, 1946, the daughter of Antonio Jaramillo and Margarita Ramirez. She worked many years in manufacturing assembly line and packaging in Colombia and at the BigY supermarket in CT as a bagger. Lucia was preceded by her loving husband, Bruno Morini. She is survived by daughter, Beatriz E. Webb of Riverview, FL; brothers, Julio Jaramillo and Juan Jaramillo; sisters, Cecilia Gonzalez, Gloria Jaramillo, Julia Jaramillo and Irene Hidalgo; and many nieces and nephews. Friends and family are invited to attend a time of visitation on Saturday morning April 26, 2025 from 10:00 AM to 1:00 PM at Southern Funeral Care, 10510 Riverview Drive, Riverview, Florida. A Celebration of life Service will follow at 1:00 PM.
